Lufthansa Technik takes Qt into the skies - Built with Qt and KDAB

For VIP and business aircrafts, »nice« is the industry standard in cabin management and in-flight entertainment developed by Lufthansa Technik with Qt and KDAB.

Their systems are designed for simplicity, convenience, and pleasure. »nice« brings a human touch back to the flying experience, with high-end technology.

Moving from multiple native approaches to Qt and QML has enabled them to develop their Red Dot Design Award winning in-cabin environment with immersive user experiences used by VIP, government and business jets like Bombardier.

Their system features wireless media playback on all mobile devices, a unique touch dial, featuring business aviation's first application of an OLED display, a personal control unit, a 7" pop-up display delivering an immersive video experience combined with full cabin control, a wireless system controller and a lot more.

How KDAB helped unu build the UI for their next generation electric scooter

Right from the start, unu wanted to add a stylish, first-class embedded high-res display to their second generation electric scooter. Like many top-class engineering companies, unu didn’t have in-house expertise for building a modern UI, so they decided to partner with KDAB to build a modern UI based on Qt. Braumeister – KDAB helps generations old manufacturer turn into product innovator

Speidel took a risk when the company allowed the founder's grandson to translate the company's expertise in quality container manufacture into small home-brewing appliances for beer lovers - the Braumeister brand. The astonishing success of the Braumeister project opened Speidel up to a whole new market. While their traditional business model is aiming at commercial customers in food, agriculture and medical industries, the Braumeister allows everyone to brew their own customized beer at home, which requires a completely different product design and usability.

KDAB was invited to modernize the software interface and went on to deliver online connectivity and full stack expertise. At 01:15, KDAB's Christoph Sterz details some of the work KDAB did using Qt/QML to create an optimal user experience.

KDAB and OPW - KDAB redeveloped OPW's software using QML for the UI on the measuring machines

German company OPW is in the business of producing extremely high-quality measuring instruments and devices that are designed to help manufacturers ‘get it right first time.’ Their equipment plays a vital role in quality management, and ultimately time-and-cost-savings for manufacturers. KDAB redeveloped OPW's software using QML for the UI on the measuring machines, so that a in-house technician would be able to set up the control panel.

QI (Quantitive Imaging Systems) – Solving Cancer

Solving cancer is probably the biggest mystery that we see unravel in our life. This is a complex one because cancer is not a single disease, there are a myriad of aspects that need to be uncovered. We have sequenced the human genome over a 10 year period, it's less a "blueprint" of life", more a parts list. We need to know how to put the parts together in the architecture of a piece of tissue, how tumors progress in such an environment and how they can be stopped from doing so.

QI (Quantitive Imaging Systems) images biopsies from patients and are able to label individual cells with over a hundred biomarkers. This ability to get hundreds of biomarker signals on individual cells within the tissue architecture allows us to understand how tumor biology works and allows us to find druggable targets to stop tumors processing and metastasizing.

CCI – putting intelligence into agriculture - UI for terminal displays using Qt

When Competence Center ISOBUS (CCI) decided to bring their terminal up-to-date as part of the Group’s strategy to remain top of the field in advanced agritechnical innovation, they asked KDAB to help.

The user interface in the operator’s cab displays multiple applications. It can control complex agricultural tools, receive and display complex reports and much else besides. Crucially, it also need to be easy to operate and understand. Learn how KDAB developed a new terminal software using QtQuick on Linux embedded.
